Aaron Thomas Schmidt, 19, of Medina, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2016. Aaron was born on June 23, 1996 in Columbus, OH to Thomas and Jeanne (Scherdin) Schmidt. Aaron was a freshman studying forensic chemistry at Eastern Kentucky University. He loved art, writing, and playing soccer. At home and at EKU he liked playing trading card games and video games and enjoyed tutoring the students on his floor at school. Aaron was very family oriented. He is survived by his parents Tom and Jeanne; his brother, Jacob Alexander Schmidt; maternal grandparents Henry and Elaine Scherdin; paternal grandparents James and Helen Schmidt; aunts and uncles Steve Scherdin, Patti (Les) Duellman, Tommy (Michele) Scherdin, Bob Schmidt, Paul (Jerilyn) Schmidt, and Katrina (Richard) Einhellig; numerous cousins; and his faithful pet Margarita. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina 44256. Fr. Tony Sejba will officiate. Private family burial services will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4-8:00 pm at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Aaron T. Schmidt Scholarship Fund at Key Bank.
