Agnes “Nancy” Stewart Fotheringham
Agnes Stewart Fotheringham, affectionately known as Nancy, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2026, in Medina, Ohio. She was born in June of 1938, in Saltcoats, Scotland, to Donald Beattie Cook and Sarah Paterson Cook.
Nancy immigrated to the United States from Scotland in 1964 and made Medina, Ohio, her home. She was married to the love of her life, Alexander McLean Fotheringham, for 67 years. Together, they built a wonderful life centered around family, friendship, laughter, and countless memories.
Nancy had an effervescent personality and an extraordinary ability to connect with people. For more than 30 years, she worked as a waitress at Biff’s, Bix’s, and Michaels Restaurants in Medina. She genuinely loved her customers, and they loved her in return. Nancy could strike up a conversation with anyone, making people feel welcome and valued wherever she went.
Family was at the heart of Nancy’s life. She is survived by her husband, Alexander; her three children, Gail Fotheringham (Art) Farnsley, Alistair (Cindy) Fotheringham, and Scott (Louise) Fotheringham; her grandchildren, Sarah, Mandy, Alex, Caleigh, Brian, Amar, Beau, and Teddy; and her great-grandchildren, Emery, Gabija, Vera, Thomas, and Bridget.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Beattie Cook and Sarah Paterson Cook, and her siblings, Donald Cook, Alec Cook, and James Cook.
Nancy loved traveling with her family and especially enjoyed the many trips she and Alex took together to Las Vegas. Whether at home, at work, or on the road, she brought laughter, warmth, and an unmistakable energy to those around her.
Nancy will be remembered for her loving heart, infectious personality, Scottish spirit, and the genuine connection she made with so many people throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, former customers, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 8, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St. Medina, Ohio.
