Obituary

Alan Korek, age 73, of Medina, passed away on October 26, 2026. He was born on September 18, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Oscar and Ann (Rusnak) Korek.

Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was centered on the people he loved. A hard worker, Al worked as a field service engineer in the newspaper industry, a career that took him to many places. When he wasn’t travelling, he loved nothing more than being at home, where he enjoyed playing Zelda and cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Guardians. He enjoyed riding his Suzuki 1500 motorcycle and taking drives in his pale blue Mustang convertible. He also had a special love for animals.

Al was married to his beloved wife, Sharon (Grimes) for nearly 52 years. Every year, he would pick the first and last rose of each season from the garden and give them to Sharon - a simple tradition that will forever hold special meaning.

Al will be dearly missed by his wife, Sharon; children, Alan Korek Jr. and Shawna Bonsignore; grandchildren, Robert (Ashley) Gallagher, Kira Korek, Joseph Bonsignore, and Camille Bonsignore; great-grandchildren, Ava and Robert Jr.; brother, Terrence Korek; and special dog, Sammy. In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce; and beloved dog, Penny.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W 130th St, Brunswick.

Please share words of comfort with Al’s family on his tribute page at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
