Alan Ray Shriver, age 75, passed away May 14, 2023. He was born in Lodi on October 11, 1947. to the late Forrest E. and Isabella H. (Carey) Shriver. He was a longtime truck driver, retiring from Drug Mart, and then driving for Sandridge Foods in Medina. He served his country proudly in the US Army and his patriotism carried into his community involvement. He was a lifetime member of Wadsworth VFW Post 1089, serving as past Commander, and transported the Wadsworth Memorial Day Parade Marshall every year.
Alan LOVED to talk, was known for talking, and would talk to anyone and everyone. He was very active in and around his community and was affectionately called "Mr. Wadsworth". He coached girls and women's softball for over 35 years as well as boys youth football and baseball. He was an active and devout member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sharon Center and Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Seville.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Dianna L. (Hinman) Shriver; loving children Eric (Vanessa) Shriver and Terri (Paul) Hartley; cherished grandchildren Riley and Caden Shriver and Darren and Kaitlynn Hartley; siblings Steven (Chris) Shriver and Lynette "Susie" (James) Snyder; nieces and nephews Derrick (Becca) Shriver, Bryan (Tiffany) Shriver, Kristine (Robert) Brookover and Jennifer Hughes; his favorite pony, "Lucy"; and a lifetime of collected colleagues and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Kenneth Shriver.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Jerusalem Evangelical Church, 9282 Acme Rd, Seville, OH 44273. The family asks that everyone who attends wear their favorite sports or Wadsworth themed apparel in Alan's honor.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:30 am, Monday, May 22, 2023, at Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Seville. A committal service with military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
