Allen Joseph
Becka
May 28, 1943 – December 5, 2025
Allen Joseph Becka, 82, of Strongsville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, leaving his family with a lifetime of love, laughter, and stories that will be retold for years—especially the ones about his legendary talent for negotiating free things.
Born on May 28, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Allen was the son of Joseph J. and Mary Becka. He grew up with a strong work ethic and an even stronger sense of humor. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and later attended The Ohio State University, before building a career at Hy-Level Industries, where he worked as a purchasing agent.
Allen married the love of his life, Glenda, and together they shared 35 years of marriage built on partnership, laughter, devotion, and the unspoken rule that things generally went smoother when Allen "did what Glenda said." He was a wonderful husband, a supportive stepdad, and a steady presence whose quiet strength guided his family through every season of life.
He was the beloved stepfather of Lisa (Mark), Wyonda (John), and Terri (Jim); proud grandfather of nine; and a thrilled great-grandfather to one great-grandchild—with three more already on the way. He is also survived by his siblings Joe (Carol) and Mary (Jim), and many wonderful nieces and nephews, all of whom adored him.
Allen embraced life fully. Known around town as "The Brunswick Walker," he approached his daily walks with near-professional enthusiasm. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and working at St. Ambrose for bingo events and also counting the church offerings. He loyally cheered for the Browns and Indians—hopeful every year that this would finally be "the season." In retirement, he and Glenda traveled often to West Palm Beach, Jupiter, and Naples, Florida, where he found sunshine, new adventures, and even better opportunities to negotiate a bargain.
Above all else, Allen will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted family man, a great neighbor, and a good-hearted soul who made people feel valued and at ease. His humor, generosity, and warmth filled every room, and his stories—both heartfelt and hilarious—will be shared for generations.
Allen's family will welcome guests from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick, Ohio, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Valley City.
