Allen Eugene Bunner

The family of Allen "Al" Eugene Bunner, 75, is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Al lived a genuinely remarkable life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met through his selflessness, integrity, and natural charm. Throughout his distinguished 47-year career in the fire protection industry, he managed commercial projects around the world. Al always spoke highly of his team, celebrating their shared victories. He was a masterful negotiator, known for his strategic skill and for serving as an exceptional ambassador for his employer.

Deeply devoted to his family, Al never lost sight of his roots. The phrase "down home" perfectly captured his essence. He was a steady source of comfort and peace, and he will be fondly remembered for his generosity, kindness, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor.

A passionate Cleveland sports fan, Al found both immense joy and the familiar frustrations that came with cheering on his hometown teams. He faithfully recorded the games, though someone would inevitably call and spoil the final score. A true lover of music and live concerts, Al took great pride in the many legendary artists he had the opportunity to see perform over the years.

Al passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and countless cherished memories. Throughout his life, he found his greatest happiness spending time with his brothers and their families. He enjoyed countless weekends at car races and events, working on vintage cars that were always prone to breaking down. He would laugh and joke that he was never a "trailer queen," valuing the journey and the camaraderie with his fellow car buddies as much as the destination. His countless fishing trips with his uncles and cousins provided a legacy of tall tale stories.

More than anything, Al will be remembered for the way he made people feel. His kindness, loyalty, humility, and unwavering love for his family touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the laughter he inspired, and the many lives he enriched.

A passionate traveler, Al and his devoted wife, Monica, explored five continents together, immersing themselves in unique cultures, customs, and cuisines. Yet Ohio was always home. He especially loved spending summer evenings on the deck with neighbors and friends, alongside his beloved cats, Riley and Gracie Belle.

Al will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Monica; his son, Jonathan (Sharon); his brothers, Lee (Diane), Keith (Linda), Charles, and Pete (Ellen); and the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends he adored. His circle of friends was wide, and his neighbors became an extension of his family, giving him a true sense of community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Jane "Speedy" Bunner and Calvin Harry Bunner, and by his brothers, Wayne (Peg) and Philip.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Reserve Care Hospice of Medina for the compassionate care they provided during Al's final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
