Obituary

Alvin Ardell Bush, age 87, passed away Sunday, September 1st, 2024, at his home in Seville with his family by his side.

Alvin, son of the late Edward Henry Bush & Kathleen Irene Watson Bush, was born in Bellefonte, PA on June 30, 1937.  He was raised in his beloved Bush Hollow where he was surrounded by close and extended family.  Alvin married the love of his life, Judith Rae Holt, on December 21, 1960, at the Howard Methodist Church.  Alvin raised his family in the suburbs of Syracuse, NY and Cleveland, OH.

Alvin served in the US Army from 1960-1962 in the USA and in France.  Following his time in the Army, Alvin studied and trained for a career in electronics.  He subsequently worked 35 years for GE, first in television and radio and later in the lighting division.  Alvin was a member of the GE Lighting Team that developed and patented the electronic fluorescent ballast. He retired from the Lighting Division in 2002, having spent the bulk of his career there.

Alvin enjoyed photography, vegetable & flower gardening, visiting Centre County & the surrounding areas, word puzzles (especially crossword puzzles), and spending time with his family.

Alvin is survived by beloved his wife of 63 years Judith, loving daughters Marla (Paul) Wojtala & Heather Bush; his sister Janie Capperella; cherished grandchildren, Ashley Wojtala & Alexander (Bekah) Wojtala; great-grandchildren Leo, Wyatt, Jenna, Ethan & Harvey Wojtala, Nolan Wojtala-Church, and many nieces & nephews. Alvin was proceeded in death by brothers Howard, Earl, Roy & Gerald "Mike" Bush, and by sisters Beverly Haupt, Amy Hockenberry, & Lillian Bush.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held 11:15 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273. Kindly meet at the cemetery at 11:00 am.

Contributions may be made in Alvin's name to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, who were very instrumental in making Alvin's final days at home comfortable ones, at 5075 Windfall Rd, Medina, OH 44256.
