Alyce Jenny
Eskew
May 10, 1940 – February 4, 2025
Alyce Jenny (Mills) Eskew went to be with her Lord Jesus in the early hours on February 4, 2025, in Medina, Ohio at 83 years of age.
Alyce was born on May 10, 1940, in Gillette, Wyoming to Dale and Edith Mills. She was the oldest of 8 children and grew up on a sheep ranch south of Gillette. She met the love of her life Wayne (Bob) Eskew when she was in the 10th grade and after her high school graduation they were married on March 21st, 1959. Alyce and Bob had 2 children while living in Gillette and shortly after moved to Huron South Dakota to raise their family. While living in Huron Alyce opened a beauty salon called "Magic Mirror" and she loved owning her own business and serving her clients.
When Bob and Alyce became empty nesters, they started taking turns living by both of their two children. They moved to Louisville Ky to live near their daughter and family for about 10 years and later to Minneapolis MN to live near their son and family. In June of 2021 Bob passed away and Alyce moved to Memphis for three years where her son and his wife had moved to. She recently moved to Medina, Ohio to live with her daughter and husband again. Alyce and Bob were married for 62 wonderful years.
Alyce was always involved in her church wherever she lived. She taught many bible studies and served in numerous church ministries throughout the years. Even though she didn't own a hair salon after she moved away from Huron her family kept her skills sharp by requesting haircuts often. Alyce was creative and loved to decorate and make beautiful floral arrangements. She also took ceramic classes and gave her family and friends many lovely pieces. She wasn't' fond of cooking, however, her grandkids claim she made the best waffles you will ever eat.
Bob and Alyce loved to go south during the winter months to get away from the cold and they could be found touring the state of Florida and visiting family along the way. Her family all loved it when they came to visit. Alyce always enjoyed spending time with her family, and she especially loved dotting on her grand kids and great grands.
Anyone that knew Alyce, knew she loved Bob, her family, and Jesus more than anything. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Bob Eskew, parents Dale and Edith Mills, and sister Anitta J. Smelser. Alyce J. is survived by her daughter Christy (Bo) Overman of Medina Ohio, her son Wayne (Lori) Eskew of Memphis TN as well as her 4 grandchildren: Kaci (Cory) Morse, Lorin (Taylor) Larson, Blake (Elizabeth) Eskew, Kelci (Adam) Smith, 7 great grandchildren, sisters Audrye J. (John) Crump and Alda J. (Mark) Ward, brothers Ellory (Kim) Mills, Allen (Cricket) Mills, Samuel Mills, and Glenn (Lisa) Mills, brother-in-law Dean (Anitta) Smelser, and many nieces and nephews.
