Amzetta Farley, 98, of Brunswick, Ohio passed from this life into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Amzetta was born in Mingo County, West Virginia, but she grew up in Minden, West Virginia. Amzetta contracted Polio when she was a baby, but she did not allow the health challenges that Polio left her with to diminish her quality of life. Minden, West Virginia was a coal mining town and it was there that she met her future husband, a coal miner, named Owen (Ted) Farley.

Amzetta will be greatly missed by her loving grandchildren Gary Owen (Ella) Powell and Melissa (Neal) Miller; loving great-grandchildren, Rayna and Noah Powell, Owen, and Grace and Kevin Miller; sisters-in-law, Sadie Adkins, Rita Farley, Theresa Farley, and Wanda Shenemen; brother-in-law, Jessie (Betty) Farley; and many treasured nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Creota Sifer; her beloved husband of 63 years, Owen (Ted) Farley; her precious daughter, Anna Powell; brothers, George Sifers, Jr. and Harold Sifers; and sisters, Connie Carey and Ruthie Birch.

Amzetta was an amazing woman, loved by everyone she met. (This is her granddaughter writing, and I can’t think of one person who didn’t like her.) What a statement about the WOMAN SHE IS. I hope you don’t mind that I used present tense there, as I firmly believe that my grandmother is living on in eternity with our Heavenly Father. God’s Word tells us that to be absent from the body is to be immediately present with Jesus. That is the hope upon which my grandmother lived her life. Amzetta enjoyed watching game shows, completing word searches, and watching movies. Amzetta accomplished many things in life, but by far her greatest achievement was raising her daughter, Anna.

The family will receive friends and family at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd, Brunswick (Rt. 303 near I-71) on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10 am - 11 am. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 11 am. The Rev. Cathy Harman will officiate. Burial will take place at Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick.
