Obituary

Arlene B. Huber, 87, passed away on July 17, 2024.  She was born September 25, 1936 to the late Arleigh J. Browand and Lucile M. Browand. Arlene had two sisters, Jean Gehring (living in Boulder, CO) and Judy (deceased).  Arlene grew up in Litchfield, Ohio, on her parents' farm south of Litchfield Circle on a location formerly known as the Shank Thoroughbred Horse Farm.  She graduated from Buckeye High School in 1954.

Arlene attended Bowling Green State University for one year and married her husband, Thomas J. Huber (deceased) on June 11, 1957.  Arlene had four children, Gregory A. Huber (Heidi), Brian T. Huber (Laura), Judy E. Huber (Dave), and Stephanie L. Bachman (Karl).  Arlene had nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In 1968, Arlene returned to college for undergraduate education at the University of Akron and graduated in 1974.  She attended the University of Akron Law School, and graduated in 1977. After passing the Ohio Bar exam in 1977, Arlene began to practice law as the third female attorney in the City of Medina.  After working as an associate with the Gilbert & Parish law firm from 1977 until 1981, she became a partner with Attorney John Jeandrevin and practiced law on East Smith Road in Medina, Ohio, until 1992.  Arlene helped many, many people with legal diffculties in Medina County during her partnership in the Jeandrevin and Huber Law Firm.

In 1992, Arlene moved to Palatka, Florida and took the Florida Bar exam.  She opened a general law practice in Putnam County, Palatka, Florida from 1993 until 2010.  Arlene had an active and successful law practice and was very much involved in the Palatka Historical Society.  She returned to Lodi, Ohio, in 2010 and began work as a guardian ad litem in Judge Kevin Dunn's court from 2011 to 2019.  Arlene cared for the children she assisted as a guardian ad litem as though they were her own.

Arlene was a wonderful, generous woman and a superb lawyer.  She was beloved by her family and friends and admired by all who knew her. Arlene had an exquisite eye for detail when decorating her homes; she orchestrated family gatherings, documented the history of her wide range of interests and advocated on behalf of the environment and policies.

Service information: Calling hours will be Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Waite & Son Funeral Home located at 765 North Court Street, Medina, Ohio.  A private burial service will be held at a later date amongst family at the Brethren Church Cemetery located in Spencer, Ohio.
