Betty Crystal Seymour

Betty C. Seymour, age 100, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Windsor House, Doylestown Health Care Center, Doylestown, Ohio. She was born April 19, 1926 in Wadsworth, Ohio to Leon C. And Ada L. (Becker) Waters. Betty graduated from Sharon High School, Sharon Center, Ohio in 1944. While working at Ohio Engineering Company in Medina, Ohio she met her future husband, Richard A. Seymour. They married on August 23, 1947 in Sharon Center at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. They built a home, next to her parents, in the area of Sharon Township known as the English Settlement on property that had been in the Waters’ family since the 1830’s. Betty remained a life-long resident of Sharon Township until the time of entering the nursing home in September of 2024.

Betty retired from the Medina County Clerk of Courts where she worked as a bookkeeper. She also had obtained a real estate license and, for a short time, worked for Maitland Realty in Medina.

In her younger married years, Betty enjoyed collecting antiques, sewing, knitting, entertaining family and friends, camping and golfing. She and her husband were blessed to have many friends and neighbors that they were close to and called themselves “The Boneta Bombers”. Later in life she liked to crochet, read and assemble puzzles. After her husband passed, Betty and her sister Jean became inseparable. Together, they traveled to Waters family reunions held across the United States. Betty dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed attending their various activities.

Betty is survived by her son, Gary A. (Catherine) Seymour; daughter, Stacy Ann (William) Reep; six grandchildren, Cameron (Lawrence) Ashby, Jennifer (Matthew) Sailer, Abby (Derek) Donohue, Jason (Leighann) Reep, Crystal (Travis) Sparks and Jared Reep; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister-in-law Dixie Waters; cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Dale Seymour; husband, Richard A. Seymour; brother, Donald E. Waters; sister, Jean Waters; great-great granddaughter Ada Ashby.

Visitation will be held at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, Ohio on Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by a service at Noon. She will be laid to rest at Sharon Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Cleveland Chapter.
