Betty Zarney, a life-long resident of Medina, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at the age of 102. She graduated from Medina High School in 1940 and Ohio Wesleyan University in 1945. She was also a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ, Congregational. Married in 1944, she and her husband, Elmer Zarney, shared a 63-year marriage.

Betty will be remembered as a compassionate person, interested in history - of her family lineage, of her town, of the places they traveled. She was a careful listener, remembering all the details of her conversations with people. She had many long-term friends and made many new ones easily while she lived in assisted living.

Betty leaves a legacy in her children: son Kim (Sally) Zarney, daughters Deb Waldron and Jennifer Greising, four granddaughters - Kara, Lauren, Emily, and Katie - as well as six great-grandchildren - Averie, Harper, William, Beckett, Perrie, and Gavin. The youngest ones were so excited to be able to say they knew someone who was 100 years old! She will be missed by many.
