Obituary

Brenda C. Henagen (nee Bennett), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 77 years old.

Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, David Henagen, her daughter Christina (Christopher), and her grandson, Alex, who was one of her greatest joys. She also leaves behind her brother Ted, her sisters Geraldine and Joann, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Mary (Davis) and Seigle Bennett, and her brothers Clyde, Lamon, and Kenneth.

Brenda was born in Harlan, Kentucky, the sixth of seven children. Brenda received her undergraduate degree in education from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky and her Master's of Science in Education from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.

A lifelong educator, Brenda dedicated her career to teaching first and second grade at Monticello Elementary School in Huber Heights, Ohio. She touched countless lives through her work, making many lifelong friends and inspiring generations of children with her kindness, patience, and love of learning. Beyond the classroom, Brenda was a caretaker in every sense of the word- always ready to lend a hand, offer support, and do anything she could to help those around her.

Brenda met her beloved husband David while he was stationed at Fort Knox, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories. Their bond was a testament to enduring devotion and partnership.

Known for her sharp eye as a "bargain shopper," Brenda delighted in finding the best deals and sharing her discoveries with family and friends. Brenda loved to travel with David and their many dear friends. She was also an avid reader, but above all, she was most devoted to caring for those around her, pouring endless energy and love into her family, friends, and community.

Brenda's legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and unwavering dedication to others. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends may call on the family at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, OH 44212, on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 11 am to 12 noon. A service will follow at noon. Burial will follow at Hope Memorial Gardens, Hinckley.
