Brent E.
Hemry
June 19, 1966 – January 8, 2026
Brent Eric Hemry went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2026, at the age of 59. His passing was unexpected, leaving his family and friends deeply saddened. Born on June 19, 1966, in Lima, Pennsylvania, Brent grew up in southern Ohio and lived a life marked by devotion, humility, quiet strength, and a sincere love for God's Word.
After graduating high school, Brent began his career in Ohio's conservation program, completing projects that reflected his love for the outdoors — including replacing the roof shingles of the Tecumseh Outdoor Drama shelter. He later earned an A.A.S. in Forestry and worked as a Utility Forester in several states, a role that suited his appreciation for nature and his steady, hands-on work ethic. When he eventually returned to Ohio, he continued serving his community as a local truck driver for Roehl Transport.
Brent was a devoted husband to Mary Sue, his wife of 19 years and a loving father to Jenna, the light of his life and his step-son, Steven who also made him very proud. He loved spending time with his family, studying the bible together and preparing delicious meals on the smoker. He was the life of the party and is deeply missed.
Brent was the kind of man who found joy in simple, meaningful things. He loved the outdoors, especially his annual deer hunting trips back to his boyhood home — trips marked by freezing mornings, rain or snow, and the running joke that the deer were always somewhere else most years. He cherished his gun collection, not for display, but for the craftsmanship and history behind each piece. He could spend hours smoking food, perfecting flavors with the same patience he brought to everything he did.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Rosie (née Remaley) LeValley, as well as Francis Hemry and Dorothy Gilliam (née Elliott). He is survived by and forever loved by his wife of 19 years, Mary Sue (née Bewley); his daughter Jenna; his stepson Steven Anthony (Alainna née Kirkland); two grandchildren, Andrew & Raelynn; his parents, Tyrone and Donna; his brother Brian in Ohio; and his sisters Camilla (Steven Harrison) in Connecticut and Lynnella (David Artimisi) in Missouri.
Brent also poured his heart into serving at Southwest Baptist Church, where he volunteered on the security team, sang in the choir, and read Scripture during services. His church family remembers him as dependable, witty, and deeply rooted in his faith. Brent's life was rich with love, service, and the things that brought him joy. His memory will continue to live on in every story shared and every life he touched. As we remember Brent, we rest in the promise of Psalm 121 — that the Lord, who watches over our coming and going, will keep us in His care now and forevermore.
Visitation will be held from 10 am - 12 noon, Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Southwest Baptist Church, 329 N. Carpenter Rd., Brunswick, followed by funeral services at 12 noon. Interment will take place at Hope Memorial Gardens, Hinckley.
