Obituary

Bruce Charles Bernard was a loving and devoted father, brother, son, and friend. He went to his heavenly home on June 10, 2021, at the age of 67.

Bruce was born in Morristown, New Jersey, on December 18, 1953, to Gus and Connie Bernard. He attended Bayley Ellard High School, where he was an excellent athlete and student with a passion for baseball. He furthered his education at the University of Dayton, earning both his bachelor's degree and MBA, while creating lifelong friendships in his business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. As a natural competitor, Bruce excelled in his various leadership and sales positions, continuously coming in as top salesman throughout his career. In the spring of 1981, Bruce married Karla Hari and started their family in Medina, Ohio. Over the next few years, they welcomed their daughters, Corey and Christy, into the world.

Bruce was the ultimate sports enthusiast; he loved playing baseball, basketball, golf, and tennis. He prided himself in sharing that passion with his daughters and one of his greatest joys was coaching their sports teams. He was very active in his daughters' lives and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, impart knowledge, and encourage them to believe there was no limit to what they were capable of. Bruce also enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating on Manitoulin Island, Ontario, for many summers with his family and "Hoopie" friends. He loved swimming in the lake with his black labs, telling fish stories around the campfire, and could always be counted on for a good laugh. In addition, Bruce was a faithful catholic follower, active in Holy Martyrs Catholic Church and other outside charities. He was a dedicated family man and a friend you could endlessly depend on. Bruce will be deeply missed by all those who loved him.

Bruce is survived by his loving daughters Corey Lynn Bernard and Christy Ann Bernard; mother Connie Bernard; siblings Janice Kastner, Robert Bernard, John (Elena) Bernard, and many adored nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Gus Bernard, brother-in-law Bruce Kastner, and nephew Sean Bernard.

The family will receive friends for calling hours from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Friday June 25, 2021, at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina 44256. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday June 26, 2021 at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 3100 Old Weymouth Rd., Medina, OH 44256. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to two groups that were close to Bruce's heart.
