Obituary

Capt. Jacob Ian McDermott, age 35, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 19, 2012 in Dayton, OH. Jacob was born July 18, 1976 in Wadsworth, Ohio. He graduated from Medina High School in 1994, served in U.S. Marines from 1994-1998 and Ohio Army National Guard from 1998-2006. Jacob was currently a Captain in U.S. Air Force serving from 2006 to the present time. Jacob received his Bachelor's Degree of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron in 2006. He was attending St. Mary University working on his Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. His bliss in life was "blowing things up," he loved his guns, dogs and his 1972 Mach 1 Mustang and 2007 Shelby GT500 Cobra. But he especially loved his family and wife Heather.

Beloved husband and high school sweetheart of Heather Renee` (Kreiger), to whom he was married 9 years; dear son of Larry and Luana (West) McDermott; loving brother of Patrick (Heather Lynn) McDermott; dear uncle of Connor, Alycia and Aden McDermott; loving grandson of Lois McDermott; dear son-in-law of Bruce (Loretta) Kreiger; and dear brother-in-law of Jennifer Kreiger.

Services will be held Saturday, May 26, 11:00 A.M., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. Family will receive friends Friday from 5-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to a benevolent fund in Jacob's memory at any First Merit Bank.
