Obituary

Captain John J. Kiley, Jr., Retired USMC, of Columbia Station, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on February 22, 2025. He was born on February 27, 1937, to the late John J. and Rosa L. (Murley) Kiley in Cleveland, Ohio.  John proudly served his country as a member of the USMC, serving both 2 tours in Vietnam and the Korean War. John retired with the rank of Captain in the USMC after serving 20 years of active duty & 10 years with the reserves. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff of Medina County, he loved his community and never failed to support it.

John had many interests, he alongside his then-wife, Marylin, owned and operated Hearthside Stitchery and Framing Gallery in Medina. He was a member of the Lorain County Grange.  A devout and active member of Columbia Station United Methodist Church a lifetime member of the VFW. John consistently volunteered his time to support these organizations.

John had a passion and talent for woodworking and enjoyed working with his hands. He also had a love for animals, especially dogs and birds, as well as a keen interest in NASCAR, and college football. Above all, he had a deep love for his country and his beloved family. John exhibited a never-quit attitude, always wearing a smile and maintaining a positive demeanor. As a proud defender of his country and community, he was a devoted husband, loving father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Norma (Rundag) Kiley, his children, Kelley-Sue (Bruce) Jordan, John (Amy) Kiley, III, Craig (Julie) Kiley, Basil 'Howie' (Terry) Reynolds; stepchildren, Kevin (Tonya) Norman, John T. (Mercedes) Norman, Cory (Mary) Norman, Stephanie (Todd) Morton, Brian Norman; grandfather of David, Cassidy, Colt, Alianna, Hailey, Caleb, Cooper, Natalya, Gage, and Lexie, Daniel, Brandon, Samantha, Bailey and Jonah; his brothers, Robert (Betty) Kiley, and David, Kiley; along with several great-grandchildren and a lifetime of dear friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents, former wife of 29 years, Marylin (Ives) Kiley, brother, and Michael Kiley

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Columbia Station United Methodist Church, 25453 Royalton Road, Columbia Station, Ohio 44028 with John's Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service John will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Columbia Township Cemetery, 13801 W River Road, Columbia Station, Ohio 44028.
