Carol Sue (Sarver) Walter, 84, passed away on June 10, 2025, at Medina Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by family. Born May 13, 1941, in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Sarver.
Carol married her high school sweetheart, Don, on August 24, 1963, in Butler, PA. She is survived by Don; children Connie (Dwight) Bowman (Westerville, OH) and Kenneth (Laura) Walter (Medina, OH); grandchildren Mackenzie (Joey) Lefforge (Upper Arlington, OH), Alex (Heidi) Bowman (Grand Rapids, MI), Cale and Patrik "P.J." Walter (Cape Coral, FL), step-grandchildren Paige and Innis Eckenrode; and great-grandchildren Olivia and Jack Lefforge; Lynne Hasychak (niece); Tim and Brad Tarcha (nephews). She was preceded in death by her sister, Rebecca Sarver.
A 1959 graduate of Butler High School, Carol was active in music and student leadership, serving as class secretary all four years of high school and on the senior class queen's court. She studied music at Chautauqua Institute in NY and graduated from Capital University in 1962 with an Executive Secretarial degree.
Carol worked in administrative roles at Capital University, for Drs.Cevasco and Smucker, NTN Bearing, substituting in various clerical positions for Medina City Schools, and taught remedial reading to GED students through the Literacy Council of Medina County. She also volunteered with Medina Meals on Wheels. A gifted pianist and organist, she played for countless church services, weddings, funerals and social events and sang in church choirs. She sang briefly with the Medina County Chorus.
Later in life, Carol dedicated herself to her family, caring for loved ones and supporting her children's and grandchildren's growth with selflessness, humility, and love. Her greatest attribute was putting the wants, needs and desires of others before herself. She enjoyed flowers, classical music, recreational biking, word games, and puzzles.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Carol to the American Diabetes Association .
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 17, from 5–8 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 N Broadway St, Medina, OH 44256. Please meet at the church.
