With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Caroline Anna Nagel, beloved matriarch and cherished friend, who departed this life on August 15, 2026, at the age of 88. Carol was born on April 26, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stephen and Julia Urban. She spent her life as a devoted homemaker, nurturing her family with love and compassion.
Carol was known for her warmth and generosity, often opening her home to those in need. For over 26 years, she hosted 'Tuesday Night' dinners, bringing together family and friends in a spirit of community and care. Her love for cooking was matched only by her passion for travel, particularly her trips to casinos, and her excitement for 'Poker Night' every Friday. Carol found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as feeding the wildlife that visited her yard, and she delighted in watching musicals, where the magic of the performances took her to another world. A long-standing member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Carol’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She shared this faith with her late husband, James A. Nagel, who passed away in 2021; their son, Thomas E. Nagel, who left us in 2025; daughter-in-law, Veronica Nagel; and son-in-law, Fred Hadacek. Carol will be lovingly remembered by her surviving children: Ann Estremera, Joan (John) Arnold, Eileen (fiancé, Henry Albright) Hadacek, James Nagel, John (Marilyn) Nagel, Susan (Tom) Davis, Theresa (George) Anthony, Alice (James) Nowosielski, and Joseph (Gretchen) Nagel. She was a proud grandmother to 32 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 36 great-grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her dear sister, Elizabeth (William) Goede, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts. The family will receive friends to honor Caroline's life at Waite Funeral Home, located at 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, OH 44212, on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 2 to 6 PM. A Celebration of Carol's life will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 11 AM, followed by interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. In these moments of sorrow, may we find comfort in the legacy of love she leaves behind. Messages of support and condolences may be shared with Carol’s family at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
