August 3, 1942 – November 4, 2024
Charles W. Harden, age 82, passed away on November 4, 2024, in Medina, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Smithfield, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1942, to the late Omer and Madonna (Franks) Harden.
Charles served his country proudly as a member of the US Navy during Vietnam. An electrician by trade he worked for both Kidde and NASA Glenn Research Center before he finally retired. He was an avid lifelong Steeler's Fan who adopted a deep love for the Cleveland Browns as well while living in Ohio. Somehow, he navigated supporting both of his favorite teams well each football season. Charles was an active and long-standing member of the Medina Eagles AERIE #2224 where his family often joked, he could always be found. But above all he was a wonderful father and devoted grandfather. His family was the center of his world, especially his beloved grandchildren. He will be greatly missed all.
He is survived by his loving sons, Sam (Becky) Hlatky, Bill Harden, John Harden, and Tony (Emily) Harden; his beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Natalie, Sammy (fiancé', Lindsay), Melanie (Nick), and Lucy (Robert); and his great grandchildren, Reese and Spencer; along with a lifetime of friends and colleagues.
Charles is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 31 years, Marie (Watrus) Harden; and his parents, Omer and Madonna (Franks) Harden.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, OH 44256. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11, 2024, with burial at St Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery on Weymouth Road in Medina, OH immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in his memory be made to either Medina County SPCA, 8790 Guilford Road, Seville, OH 44273 or The American Lung Association, 5755 Granger Road, Suite 905, Independence, OH 44131.
