Charles Louis
Takacs, Jr.
June 15, 1945 – March 5, 2026
Charles Louis Takacs Jr., age 80, passed away on March 5, 2026. He was born June 15, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Charles Louis and Margaret (Szabo) Takacs, Sr.
Charlie was known for his strong work ethic, sense of humor, strong will, and deep faith. Above all else, he believed in putting family first—always. He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid gardener, spending many happy hours tending to his flowers and vegetable garden and working in the yard. Charlie was also a devoted sports fan who enjoyed Ohio State Buckeye football and Cleveland sports, as well as golfing when he had the chance. He was well known by family for his sweet tooth, especially when it came to breakfast pastries, cake, ice cream, and donuts.
Charlie was the beloved father of Charles Takacs III, Amy Knisely (Martin McGuan), and Brian (Julie) Takacs. He was a proud grandfather to Garrett, Dean, Paige, Emma, Audrey, and Isaac. He is also survived by his sisters Margie Bartick and Madeline Quigley, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carolyn Takacs (née Kovacs), and his sister, Kathleen Novotney.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Waite Funeral Home, Brunswick Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick, Ohio. Charlie will be laid to rest at a later date at Ohio Western National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
