Cody Tyler Kumhall, a proud veteran of the US Army, passed away April 7, 2023, age 29 of Boulder, Colorado and formerly of Medina, Ohio. He is the beloved son of Christopher Kumhall and Donna (Jennings) Nicola. Cody was born in Medina on November 22, 1993 and graduated from Medina High School.
Cody served his country in the US Army as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician and reached the rank of Specialist. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel. He received several awards and medals for his service. He was a Business student at the University of Colorado Boulder. He loved music and writing and was known to travel anywhere on a new adventure.
He is survived by his parents Donna and Chris; siblings Kyle Kumhall, Kurt (Alexis) Kumhall, Katerina Kumhall and Ethan Nicola; maternal grandparents Mary Manno, Gary (Pat) Jennings; girlfriend Leela Srivastava; and his dogs Milo and Cali. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Donald and Dorothy Kumhall.
The family will receive family and friends from 4-7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. A Celebration of Cody's Life will immediately follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
A committal service with military honors will be held at 1:45 p.m., Wednesday , April 19 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, OH 44273. Please meet at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday to process to the cemetery for the service.
