Obituary

Courtney E. Courtney (Gaynor), 43, of Medina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026.

Courtney was born in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, on February 7, 1982, to Paula and William Gaynor. She grew up in Medina and attended Medina City Schools, graduating from Medina High School in 2000. She excelled academically and was a standout member of the Color Guard, where her grace and dedication shone brightly.

After high school, Courtney pursued her passion for education at the University of Akron, earning her Bachelor's degree. She went on to become a proud and dedicated employee of Medina City Schools from 2005 to 2023, serving as a beloved teacher and reading specialist, earning her Master's Degree during this time as well. Her commitment to her students and her ability to inspire a love of learning left a lasting impact on countless young lives. Courtney's outstanding contributions were recognized as she received the Distinguished Service Award in 2017.

Above all, Courtney cherished being a mother to her three beautiful children. Nothing brought her greater joy than supporting them in their activities, spending sunny summers by the pool, and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs together as a family. The classic movie nights and Target runs all speak to the nurturing, fun-loving home she created.

As the matriarch of her family, Courtney loved planning family gatherings and opening her home to everyone with warmth and generosity. She will be forever remembered for her infectious laughter, her bright smile, and her genuine kindness that touched everyone she met. Courtney also enjoyed home projects that turned her house into a cozy, beautiful haven for her children.

She was preceded in death by Philip and Jeanne Gaynor, James and Patricia Manning, and Paige Manning.

Courtney is survived by her loving children Charlotte, Henry, and Catherine; her parents, Paula and William Gaynor; brother, Matthew (Leah) Gaynor; nephews, Jace, Beau, and Eli Gaynor; aunts, Pamela (John) Manning and Patricia (Lou) Papesh, many cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed to know her.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4-8pm at Waite Funeral Home in Medina. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11am at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
