David William Deyling, age 76, of Lodi, went into the White Light December 13th, 2023. He was born June 10th,1947 to the late William and Betty (Blair) Deyling in Medina, Ohio.

David graduated from Cloverleaf High School in 1965, shortly after joining the United States Navy and serving on both the USS Franklin Roosevelt and the USS Kretchmer. He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran

After returning home, he married his one and only love Cheryl, and they traveled to Nashville Tennessee where he went to Diesel School. After completion, he worked at Hissong Kenworth until his dream job came along. He then worked for CSX Transportation, where he worked 30 years before retiring in 2007. He enjoyed his retirement with his family and fixing anything and everything that anyone needed done. He never said no to a project.

One of his biggest accomplishments he proud of was his more than 35 years of sobriety. He helped numerous people in the AA program, as it helped him just as much. Special thanks to his sponsors as well as all of his friends that he made over the years.

He is survived by his son Brett(Maryann) of Lodi; son Brian of Brunswick; sister Diane Palker(Richard) of Medina; brother John of Sullivan; aunts Carol and Sheila Gibson of Medina; granddaughters Ashley, Jessica Mccray (Marcus), Brittney, Madison, Nadia; grandsons Corey (Amanda) and Joseph; great-grandchildren Brian, Farrah, Annabelle, Kaylee, Kendric, Evalyn, Laila, and Maddox, ; many nieces and nephews, as well as many other friends and family that he cherished throughout his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl, and brothers Duane and Kenneth.

Family and Friends are welcome to celebrate his life from 10:30am-11:30am on Wednesday December 27th at Waite and Sons Funeral Home, 765 North Court Street, Medina Ohio 44256. A service will follow the gathering time, as well as a short service at Western Reserve National Cemetery. All are welcome to join the family for food and fellowship at the funeral home.
