David L
Myers
March 29, 1939 – May 5, 2020
David Leon Myers, 81, of Medina, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Tuesday May 5, 2020.
He was born on March 29, 1939 to the late Charles C. and Marian (Beals) Myers.
David graduated from Penn High School, Pittsburgh, PA, in 1957, where he was known as "Dutch" by his friends. He graduated from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA, in 1963 with a degree in Marketing and Sales. He met his wife, Alma Rothlisberger, in 1957 and married her on July 6, 1963.
Dave was a great dancer, and avid Steeler football fan, he liked dressing up to entertain friends and strangers just to make them laugh and enjoy life. He had a never-ending sense of humor all his life and will be missed by family and friends who especially remember him for his ability to make people laugh. In high school he and about eight close friends formed a group he named the "Angels". They made jackets to identify themselves and had hoped to form a singing group with (you guessed it) Dave, as lead singer. All Dave's ideas.
Dave was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and son, having a deep love for all his family both near and far away. He was a good Catholic and faithful to God, loved his country and had a special affection for veterans everywhere.
Dave's wife and family will miss him forever and love him forever. He was our blue-eyed joker and a valiant warrior to the end.
He is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Alma (Rothlisberger) Myers; sons, Michael D. (Katie Perkins) Myers of Wadsworth, and Daniel S. Myers of Dublin; grandson, Dylan J. Myers; and his brother, Robert C. (Joyce) Myers of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Jeannette R. Bowser.
Private services will be held for the family before burial at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all those who prayed for Dave during his lengthy illness. A special thank you to his caregivers at Lifecare Centers of Medina, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 5075 Windfall Rd. Medina, OH 44256.
