David Lee Shaw, 74, of Brunswick, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Dave was born on June 25, 1951, in Medina, Ohio, the son of the late Carroll and Edith (Brunswick) Shaw.

Dave was a lifelong resident of Medina County and a 1970 graduate of Highland High School. He grew up farming on the family farm in Granger Township. After farming he worked as a general laborer, carpenter, and heavy equipment operator working to the rank of crew supervisor. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Sharon Center Fire Department. He became a quadriplegic following a diving accident in 1979. After Dave's accident, he made an important choice, he would never give up. He enrolled in Youngstown State earning a degree in Civil Engineering Technology and went to work as a Project Estimator at Price Brothers company. He later moved on to RE Warner & Associates and retired in 2010 after 15 years as a Senior Civil Designer. He was a lifelong member of Remsen Christian Church, where he was actively involved as a Trustee, and past president of the Leadership Counsel as well as many other church committees and projects. Though he moved on in life he was always a country boy at heart. Dave served as president of the Medina County Tractor Pullers Association for many years. For the past 16 years, he volunteered his time and inspiration with the rehab patients at Metro Health Old Brooklyn Campus. Dave was an avid NASCAR fan. He and his wife, Chris, visited all but 4 of the NASCAR racetracks throughout the country. He made friends with everyone he met. Dave was an inspiration to all.

He is survived by his loving wife, Christine (Malyn) Shaw, with whom he met following his accident and they shared 42 years of marriage; sibling, LuAnn (John) Winland, Craig Shaw, Ralph (Yvonne) Shaw, Debbie Shaw, Dale (Carolyn) Shaw, Carol Maher, Diane (Steve) Wingenfeld, Ramona (Raymond) Mohn, and Carroll (Tammy) Shaw, Jr.; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Waite Funeral Home: 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, OH 44212 on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 5 to 8 pm and on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 10 to 11 am at Remsen Christian Church: 1500 Remsen Rd, Medina, OH 44256, with the service beginning at 11 am. The service will be live streamed on Remsen Christian Church Facebook page. Interment will follow at Moore's Chapel Cemetery.
