David Emil Van Drei

David Van Drei, age 28, of Medina, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026. David graduated in 2016 from Buckeye High School and went on to The Ohio State University where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering in 2020.

David ran cross-county and track in high school and was a Tough Mudder in college. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved to be in nature hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. He was a Cleveland Sports fan, watching and going to the Cavaliers, Guardians, and Browns games, and of course Ohio State football. David cherished his nieces, nephews and cousins and loved spending time with family. Sweet David enjoyed beekeeping and sharing his honey with everybody.

David is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, David and Lynn Barco.

He is survived by his father, Donald Van Drei Jr.; his mother, Carolyn Van Drei; step-brothers, Donald III (Laura), Josh (Amanda), and Tyler (Katie); brother, Nathan; grandmother, Rosemary Van Drei; and a large extended family.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Committal Spring Grove Cemetery Medina, Ohio.
