Obituary

Dennis Catlin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 25th, 1946, Dennis lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Doris Royer; his father, Francis Donald Catlin; his sisters, Darlene Hensley and Donna Johanni; his father-in-law, Robert Davis; his mother-in-law, Carmel Davis; his brother-in-law, Bobby Davis; and his sister-in-law, Cookie Davis.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Deby Catlin, who was the light of his life. Their enduring love was a testament to their unwavering commitment to one another. He is also survived by his three cherished daughters, Charlene Catlin (Pat), Leslie Kelly (Ryan), and Jaimie Perry. Dennis was a proud and loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Catlin, Kali Shockley (Josh), Daniel Catlin (Danielle), Ryan Kelly Jr., Caroline Simpson (Cameron), Louie, and Annie Perry. His joy was multiplied by his three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Robert, and Logan Shockley. He is also survived by his brother David Catlin (Dawna), brother-in-law Ronnie Davis, Sisters in law Linda Davis and Brenda Keane and many nieces and nephews.

Dennis also leaves behind his lifelong best friend of 72 years, Gary Lemmeyer (Pat), a bond that stood the test of time.

A proud veteran, Dennis served his country in the Army as a Combat Engineer with Bravo Company, stationed in Germany. He then dedicated thirty years of his life to Consolidated Freightways as a skilled and reliable truck driver.

Dennis found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep appreciation for music, a love for classic Western films, and above all, treasured the time he spent with his family. He especially cherished the quiet moments shared with his beloved Deby, the love of his life. Dennis also enjoyed golfing with friends, the peaceful solitude of fishing, and the joy of going on family vacations, creating treasured memories that will last a lifetime. He was also a profound storyteller, captivating those around him with his vivid recollections and engaging tales.

Dennis will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warm smile, boisterous spirit, and unwavering love, along with his gift of storytelling, will forever be remembered.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 9:00 am at the funeral home. A burial with military honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
