Obituary

Diane Palechka, a woman whose love, faith, and kindness shaped so many lives. On January 31st, we lost her, and with that loss came the absence of a presence that meant so much to so many. Before anything else, she was family. And what a gift it was to be loved by her.

Diane had a witty sense of humor that could instantly brighten a room and a warmth that made people feel safe and understood. Her kindness wasn't selective, it was given freely to patients, friends, coworkers, strangers, and animals alike. She had a giving heart toward animals and never turned them away from helping or caring for them. Compassion was simply who she was.

She began her nursing journey in 1966, following in the footsteps of her big sister Carol, and went on to make a lasting impact in geriatric psychiatry at Parma Hospital. Even today, when her name is spoken throughout the mental health world, it's often followed by laughter and fond stories. That speaks volumes about the nurse she was, but also about the person she was at the core.

Diane was a devout Catholic who never forgot the people she helped. Her faith was lived out daily through action, compassion, and prayer. Her prayers were strong. Her love had no end. She carried both with her everywhere.

Family was everything to Diane. She deeply loved her husband and her siblings, and she celebrated the accomplishments of others as if they were her own, always with uplifting pride and encouragement. She loved her children endlessly and worked tirelessly to provide a stable world for them as she raised them. Her grandchildren, lovingly referred to her as "Nana."  They all loved and adored her. She was blessed to even become a great grandma.

Diane may no longer be present in this world, but her love and kindness will continue to be felt for a long time.

Family will welcome friends on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 10am to 11am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11am at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W. 130th St. in Brunswick. Inurnment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park.
