Dorothy June Foy, 107, of Granger Township, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2026. Born November 26, 1918, in Toronto, Canada, June grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, and Los Angeles, where she graduated from Hollywood High School and Woodbury College. Her sense of adventure led her to secretarial work with the American Embassy in Mexico City during World War II and later to Prague, Czechoslovakia, where she met her husband, James V. Foy. Their life together took them to Rome, California, Bermuda and Washington before they settled in Medina in 1963.
June was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who loved reading, gardening, cooking and travel programs, and seeing the world. She traveled to Russia, China, Venezuela, Mexico, Ireland, Canada and Europe. She and Jim were early members of the Society for Handicapped Citizens and helped support the development of Camp Paradise. June was also active with the Mothers Club at Medina Achievement Center.
She will be remembered for her optimism and joyful spirit. June treasured family and friends, prayed faithfully for others, and lived each day with contentment and grace. She was an encourager, challenging family and friends to look on the bright side and to live with gratitude.
June is survived by her children, Deborah Batten, Kathleen Skinner, Lucinda Foy, Shelley Lovette and James Foy; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; daughter, Jenny; sister, Helen Brown; brother, Roger McLeod; and parents, Pearl and Lloyd McLeod. June’s family is grateful to her son James for his presence and care of her over the last several years, allowing her to remain in her home.
A celebration of June’s life will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Remsen Community Church, 1500 Remsen Road, Medina. Visitation begins at noon, followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Doc Loomis presiding. Memorial donations may be made to The Society or the Medina Achievement Center: Medina County Board of DD, Attention: Business Office, 4691 Windfall Road, Medina, Ohio 44256.
