Douglas Ford
Blake
January 31, 1951 – January 24, 2025
Douglas Blake of Medina, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on January 24, 2025. He was born on Jan. 31, 1951, to the late Calvin and Coleen Blake. Doug is survived by his wife and soulmate Penny; his beloved children Lyndsey (Jon Bar) Blake, Erin (Carl Bentley) Blake, Melanie (Trenton Gerspacher) Blake, son in law Dean DeMartin; cherished grandchildren Madison and Jillian Bentley, Owen and Brooklynn DeMartin, Garrison and Cyrus Daughterty; and his sister Heidi Blake.
Doug is preceded in death by his beloved daughter Chelsea DeMartin, grandson Benjamin Bentley, and brother Richard Blake.
Doug, Dad, Grandad-dad, Daddy Doug, Dougie Fresh, Mack Daddy was a lover, a comedian, and a mechanic. A true fixer of all things. From programming computers to building houses and engines, even mending broken hearts, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He worked hard, served in the Army, and built a beautiful life with his wife of more than four decades. He loved animals, riding Harley's, building extremely fast motorcycles and go karts for his kids and grandkids, and shooting BB guns in the back yard. He was Daddio to countless childhood friends of his daughters. He was always so patient raising four daughters and all their friends. He was a self-taught artist and musician. The day of his passing he had just purchased new strings for his guitar, so he could keep on playing. He was always cracking jokes and singing songs in the background. He was young at heart and even though his body kept aging, his heart and soul remained wild and free. Doug loved his family more than anything and his laughter and calm steady presence will be endlessly missed by those who were lucky enough to be loved unconditionally and protected under his wing.
Family will receive friends on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 11am-1pm, at Waite Funeral Home in Medina, with a service to follow at 1pm. Burial with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
