Earl John
Lauerhahs
April 2, 1940 – May 18, 2025
Earl John Lauerhahs, age 85, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025. Born on April 2, 1940, Earl was the beloved son of the late Hans and Helen (Goetz) Lauerhahs. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Dolores Oberst, in 1960, and together they built a life of love and devotion.
Earl worked as a feeder driver for UPS, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. He was a man of many talents and passions. Earl was an award-winning woodcarver, a skilled gardener with a legendary green thumb, and a creative spirit who could fix anything ("German ingenuity"). He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping with his son, and learning to fly airplanes. His pride in his home and yard was evident to all who passed by. Earl was known for his generosity: always feeding the neighbors from his big garden. Above all, Earl will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering love for his family, and his enduring legacy as a good husband, father, and neighbor.
Earl's memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 65 years, Dolores (Oberst) Lauerhahs; children, Therese Sears of Brunswick and Michael (Val) Lauerhahs of Van Alstyne, Texas; grandchildren, Dennis (Gina) Sears, Jr., April Sears, Katie Lauerhahs, and Lexie Lauerhahs; and four great-grandchildren, Emmitt, Ryan, Colleen and Aiden Sears.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick. Earl will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Valley City.
Casual dress is requested in honor of Earl's simple and genuine nature.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Earl's memory by planting something in your garden or lending a helping hand to a neighbor—just as he always did.
