Edward Frank Chmura, Jr., age 77, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2025, at home in Medina Township, Ohio. He was born on January 23, 1948, in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Edward Frank Chmura, Sr. and Johanna "Honni" (Nimmrich) Chmura.
Ed retired from General Motor Company with over 30 years of service. He was a skilled tradesman and pipefitter. In his younger years he worked construction. Ed also served as a volunteer fire fighter for Hinkley Township and was an active long-time member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church Parrish.
Ed enjoyed working in his yard, especially growing vegetables in his expansive garden that he used to can for family and friends. He also loved to work on cars with his brother and watch sports. He was an equal opportunity supporter of all Cleveland Sports Teams through thick and thin. Ed & Paula had a deep love for animals, cats and dogs and loved to feed the fish in his pond. Ed was proud of the home he built with his loving wife Paula. They enjoyed their vacations to Florida at the shore. He loved being surrounded by family and friends and always volunteered to grill for any get together, family gathering or holiday. Ed grew up in a very close-knit family, he continued playing an active part in all of their lives up until his death.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Paula Jean (Promey) Chmura; his sister-in-law, Theresa Chmura; nieces and nephews, Michael Chmura, Cathy (Ryan) Miller and Debbie (Gene) Morris; great nephews, Nate Miller and Kevin (Becky) Morris; and many great great nieces and nephews along with a lifetime of friends and colleagues.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David J. Chmura.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Ambrose Catholic Church 929 Pearl Rd. Brunswick, OH 44212, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be immediately following at 11:00 AM. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery Valley City, OH.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Edwards memory be made to Medina County SPCA 8790 Guilford Rd., Seville, OH 44273 or through the website at www.medinacountyspca.com
