Edward Ray Herman, 78, passed away on October 23, 2024, in Medina, OH. Born on April 11, 1946, to the late Ray and Gladys (Aungst) Herman.

Edward attended Medina City Schools, graduating in 1964. He was a proud Army veteran, having served in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. After his military service, he dedicated 30 years to Republic/LTV Steel, where his hardworking nature was greatly valued. He started in the data center as a programmer and retired as a manager in technical support.

He was a faithful attendee of Heartland Community Church, where he also found joy in participating in multiple weekly men's groups. Edward's hobbies included gardening, attending tractor pulls, volunteering at Cups Cafe, and playing just about any card game. But most of all, he cherished hugs from his grandchildren.

Edward is survived by his wife, Lucy (Cutlip) Herman; son, Todd Herman; daughter, Heather (Patrick) Rupp; grandchildren, Zoe and Aggie Rupp; and brother, Richard (Jan) Herman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Reiner (Jack Linko).

A Celebration of Life will be held at Heartland Community Church, 3400 Weymouth Rd, Medina, OH 44256 on Friday, November 15, 2024, visiting at 10:30 with service at 11:30. Edward will be interned at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Cups Cafe, www.cupscafe.org, 126 N Court St, Medina, OH 44256, honoring the Herman family spirit of community support and love.

Edward's life and quiet demeanor touched many and he will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
