Edward H. Peck III of Granger Township left this world for his heavenly home Friday, November 28,2025 after an eight-month illness, with his wife by his side.
Ed was born April 29,1953 in Medina to Mary and Edward Peck. He grew up in Granger Township and attended Highland Local Schools, graduating in 1971. Ed began working early in his life, first as a farm hand at twelve years old, then later at Gasko and Bil-Jac. He began working at U.S. Steel in 1972 where he completed an electrician apprenticeship. He graduated from ETI with a degree in electronics technology. After twelve years, when U.S. Steel closed, Ed updated his education to include Robotics at ATT. In 1985, Ed obtained an electricians position, UAW 1005 Skilled Trades, at GM in Parma. The work was to last 2 years, but he was blessed with 34 ½ years of work, retiring in April of 2020. Ed was known for his talent in trouble-shooting the huge presses on the lines at GM. He had also been an instructor at the Parma Plant.
Ed was a member of the Granger Township Fire Department for 22 years from 1972-1994. He was active in the Wadsworth Single Young Adults and the East Ohio SYA where he made many lifelong friends and met his future wife. On September 22, 1984, Ed married Jennifer (Myer). They built their forever home in Granger Township and were married 41 happy years. Ed's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping at Ohio State Parks and along the eastern coast to Florida. He had a love of motorcycles, tractors, sci-fi, and searching for treasures at thrift stores and garage sales.
Ed was a life-time member of Granger United Methodist Church. As a youth, he participated in many work camps. As an adult, he served in many capacities including trustee, Sunday school teacher, SPRT member, and Leadership Team member. Ed accompanied the GUMC youth group with his children on mission trips to Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. He was happy to teach the young people home ownership skills on these trips. Ed was also a dedicated member of Boy Scout Troop 402 of Wadsworth, going on many campouts with his son and even being the keeper of the troop trailer for many years.
Ed's special service to GUMC was to appear as "Heifer Man" in a cow costume each Advent season to educate the congregation on the mission of Heifer International, an organization which provides farm animals, bees, fruit trees, water wells, and more to people in need across the world. He had a unique sense of humor and a tender heart.
Ed leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Jennifer of Medina, daughter Kalyn Peck (Catherine Bulot) of Wadsworth, son Edward Peck (Erin) of Iowa, grandsons Eddie and Everett Peck, sister Jane Burchard (Heinz) of Homerville and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Aaron.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 2 at 11:00 AM with a Visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM before the service at Granger United Methodist Church, 1235 Granger Rd. Medina, Ohio. The family would like to thank their friends who sent many cards, visited Ed often and kept the lawn chores done this summer. Also, thanks to Dr. Stanec and the doctors and nurses of Seidman Cancer Center for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to Granger United Methodist Church for Heifer International at the address above.
