Edward F. Slane, 97, of Richfield, OH, passed away on September 10, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 10, 1917 in Cleveland, OH to the late John and Mary (nee Stubendek) Slaninka. Edward was a veteran on the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during WWII. He then went to work selling furniture and appliances and eventually became the owner and operator of Eddie's Furniture in Cleveland. His faith and Family were most important to him. He was an active member of St. Colette's, but was a founding member of five Catholic churches and an avid supporter of St. Ignatius High School. He enjoyed being outdoors and taking care of his property as well as doing crossword puzzles. Edward will be dearly missed by his loving children Mary Ellen Slane, North Royalton, OH, John (mary) Slane, Dublin, OH, Anni (Peter) Sluman, Medina, OH, Edward (Ann) Slane, Chesterland, OH, and Thomas Slane, Brunswick, OH; his 8 grandchildren; his 3 great grandchildren; and his brother Eugene. He will be reunited with his beloved wife Helen. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 12, from 4-8PM, at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 13, at 10AM, at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W 130 St. Brunswick, OH. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, OH.
