Obituary

Elizabeth Rose Gerding, known to all as Beth passed away in the comfort of her home on Friday, January 26, 2024. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, David; children, Christian (Makenzi) Gerding, Ethan Gerding, and Lucas Gerding; her mother, Nancy; a brother, Stan (Debbie) Domanski; and a sister, Mary Jo (Kip Zelenak) Domanski. Preceding her in death was her father, Stanley; and a brother, Paul Domanski.

After graduating from Independence High School she set her sights on the University of Dayton working and borrowing to ensure that expenses were covered. She received her Bachelor of Psychology Degree upon graduation and decided to follow her mother, Nancy, into the Nursing Profession. For 19 years Beth absorbed the medical information, hospital workings and patient advocacy that would guide her 6 ½ year cancer journey. In 1994, Beth married the love of her life, David Gerding, in a beautiful ceremony at St. Peter Church in Cleveland, OH. Together they raised three children, Christian, Ethan and Lucas along with their rescue dog, Tali. Affectionately referred to as "mama", Beth's personal drive is embodied in her boys as she taught the importance of structure, education, laughter, love, decorating, cooking, caring for others and Faith.

Beth was constantly growing, developing herself both physically and mentally. Managing a nursing career, motherhood and volunteering was not enough. She sculpted her body after pregnancy with P90X, began running half marathons and paced her husband on his second 5K. Beth became an avid "Foodie", creating delicious dishes from varying ethnicities without recipes. After her stage four Colon Cancer Diagnosis in June of 2017, Beth reluctantly withdrew from nursing. She focused her talents on decorating and design, starting Home Evolution and It's Tray-mendous.

An avid reader and connector of people, Beth deepened her faith over the last decade. She was unwavering in her decision to "put it all out there" for people to understand. It was then she entered the true calling of our Lord, shepherding people back to their faith. Posting on Facebook & Instagram, texting and volunteering she connected with thousands of souls.

Communication of Hope – the Beth Gerding Foundation

Our purpose is to continue the positive communication and support Beth provided families impacted by Colorectal Cancer. We will provide an annual scholarship to an impacted graduating senior; raise awareness of Colorectal Cancer and the importance of screening for early detection.

(This is the greatest gift that one could contribute to us, as it will bind us, solidifying our faith and creating a stronger foundation honoring Beth and educating others.)
