Frances Hope Bittinger (nee Polk) of Brunswick passed away peacefully on Aug. 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Frances was born in Whitby, W.V. to Marvin and Ettie Polk. She moved to Cleveland in 1957 and met James Bittinger. They married in 1959 and remained together for 60 years until his death in 2019.

Frances was a loving mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. Whether accompanying others to breakfast or the casino, making Cocoa Wheats and mac and cheese during school breaks, or cheating at Monopoly to help the littles, she enjoyed her family and made sure they were taken care of. She is survived by children, Marvin William Bittinger (Jill) and Cynthia Huff (Thomas); grandchildren, Jonathan Huff (Callie), Joshua Huff, Mandy Bittinger, Michael Bittinger, Elyse Carrol (Shawn) and Nick Bittinger; great-grandchildren, Adeline, Nathalie, Ronan, Niall, Kenadie, and Lennox; sisters, Bertha Polk, Wanda Henry (Ron), Shelby Sebasto (Dominic) and Angie Malick (John); and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, James; son, Jamie Bittinger; father, Marvin Polk; mother, Ettie Brown; brothers, James Polk and Roger Donaldson; and sister, Dolly Daniels.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, where funeral services will take place at 11 am, Friday, August 21, 2026. Interment will take place at Hope Memorial Gardens, Hinckley.
