Gail Joan
Waite
September 24, 1942 – December 12, 2024
Gail Joan Waite, age 82, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away on December 12, 2024. Born on September 24, 1942, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Gail was the beloved daughter of Manuel and Julia (Roderick) Borges. Although she was an only child, she grew up with many first cousins and extended family.
Gail's career spanned a variety of fields, from retail and the service industry to teaching cosmetology at a vocational high school for many years, all while raising her two children. Later in life, Gail pursued a Master's degree in Social Work and was employed by the city of Cleveland as a case worker. She retired after more than a decade of dedicated service.
Gail was a competitive roller-skater in her youth and an avid swimmer in later years. She loved reading with a cup of hot tea, coffee flavored ice-cream, critiquing ice skating competitions on television, and sunbathing at her favorite beaches in Westport, Massachusetts and Newport, Rhode Island.
Gail is survived by her grandchildren, Tara Carriero (Tony), Cali Ledger (Peter), Brynn O'Connell (Tim), Jenna Galloway, Ryan Waite, and Samantha Waite; her great grandchildren, Adelina, Antonio, Kyra, Stockton, Kinslee, Jaxson, Madelyn, and Ocean; her son-in-law, William Galloway; her former daughter-in-law, Pamela Burdick; and her longtime companion Theodore "Ted" Winston. She was preceded in death by her children, Scott Waite and Tracey Galloway.
Private family services will be held, and she will be laid to rest in Newport, Rhode Island, where she spent many cherished years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, P.O. Box 27986, Golden Valley, MN 55427, or online at www.ataxia.org/donate.
