Garnet
Subak
November 24, 2024
Garnet K. Subak, age 85, passed away surrounded by her loving family on November 24, 2024, in Medina, Ohio. She was born Brownsville, Pennsylvania to the late Michael S. and Irene G (Hornbake) Belski.
Garnet was a helpful and giving person, she felt called to her career as a Registered Nurse and enjoyed many years working at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus before retiring. Garnet loved hosting friends and family; she was a fixture in her communities at Lake Mohawk in Malvern, OH and at Twin Towers in Cocoa Beach, FL. She was a gifted cook, quilter, and also loved to crochet and knit. In her later years she enjoyed living at the Renaissance Retirement Campus in Olmsted Falls where she made many friends. She loved participating in the many social activities that were available to the residents, and she especially enjoyed playing Words with Friends regularly. One of Garnet's joys in life was her family and getting to be "Mimi".
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (William) Marras and Daniel (Christine) Copenhaver; her step-children, Steven (Kim) Scott, Stephanie (Michael) Mihan, and Leslie Subak (Cynthia Brandt); her 14 grandchildren, Becky (Jake) Parks, Andrew Copenhaver (Lauren Farruggia), Joseph (Alanna) Marras, Julie Copenhaver (Murphy Gerrasch), Michael Copenhaver, Grace Marras, Jacob Copenhaver, Alison (Brian) Schumpp, Kaitlyn (Drew) Van Liew, Jamie (Mike) Kelly, Luke Scott,, Max McAllister, Lola McAllister, and Angus McAllister, and 4 great grandchildren, Graham Parks, Elise Parks, Callen Schumpp, and Quinn Schumpp; along with a lifetime of friends and colleagues.
Garnet is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenn Subak (2022) and her parents.
A Celebration of her life is planned on Saturday January 18th, 2025, at 2:00 in the afternoon at the Renaissance Retirement Campus, 26376 John Rd, Olmsted Falls Ohio.
