Garry D. Madis, age 84, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026. He was born August 31, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Victor J. and Mae V. (Grubbs) Madis. Garry served his country proudly in the US Army and went on to become a talented mechanic for numerous dealerships around the area.

His passion for cars also carried over as a hobby. Garry loved to work on, modify and restore cars in his spare time and even enjoyed watching all the automobile races. He will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

Left to celebrate Garry’s life are his loving children, Garry J. Madis (Kim), Shawn D. Madis (Catherine) and Marissa A. Madis; his cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Carson Madis and step-grandchild, Shannon Kelly; his sister Penny Jackson (Ed); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Garry is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathleen Marie Madis, in 2025; his parents; and his siblings, Nancy Chainey and Larry Madis.

Family will welcome visitors from 10 – 11AM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, OH 44212. A service will immediately follow at 11:00am Saturday at the funeral home. The family will hold a private military committal service at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, where Garry will be laid to rest with his wife Kathleen.
