Gary Robert Winkler, age 70 passed away on March 10, 2025, in Medina, Ohio. He was born on February 12, 1955, in Medina, Ohio to parents, Robert Winkler and Eleanor (Pritchard) Smith.  Gary graduated from Medina High School, class of 1973, where he played football and ran track.  He was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University Class of 1978 with a degree in Natural Resources and went on to a fulfilling career as a Petroleum Engineer in the oil and gas industry.

His profession took him many places including oil rigs in the North Sea and jungles of Africa.  As his children grew, Gary devoted his spare time to coaching their youth soccer, baseball and lacrosse teams. Gary was a loving father and there was nothing he cherished more than his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his children, Andrew (Molly) Winkler, Amie (Jair) Laureano, Ross (Kaelyn) Winkler; his grandchildren, Oliver, Dane, Andie, and Asher; siblings, Linda (Joe) Paul, Thom (Traci) Winkler, and Kevin (Kim) Winkler, and lifelong friend Jon (Kay) Rickard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, OH 44256. A Graveside Service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, 785 E Washington Street, Medina, Ohio 44256 on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10:00 A.M.
