Genetta Eilene Humphries, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of Brunswick, OH, passed away at the age of "39". Born on May 27, 1943, in Hix, WV, she was the daughter of the late Allen Preston and Effie Lillian Richmond Cales. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son Michael Carter, 5 brothers, Arlie Cales, David Cales, Alton Cales, Alfred Cales, and Jerry Cales; 4 sisters, Sadie Williams, Mary Wickline, Elinore Cales, and Janice Cooper.
Genetta had a passion for many things and was a gardener and an avid fan of sports, specifically the Cleveland Browns. Her greatest attributes were her outward love for others, quick wit, and infectious smiles. Among her greatest loves were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The children were drawn to her like a magnet and she loved showering them with love. Genetta loved the Lord, and was an active member of Medina Assembly of God and was involved for years in making peanut butter and coconut eggs with the ladies group.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Humphries, Brunswick, OH; 5 children: Kathy (Bob) Jeffreys, Augusta, WV, Les (Dyanna) Carter, Shalimar, FL, Rodney (Emily) Carter, Lake Hopatcong, NJ, Kimberly (Daniel) Shawver, Doylestown, OH and Kevin Humphries, Brunswick, OH; 5 grandchilden: Joel (Cassandra) Jeffreys, Augusta, WV, Nathan (Leah) Jeffreys, Florence, MT, Ashley (Mark) Lopez, Shalimar, FL, Steven (Brittany) Carter, Carlise, OH, and Amanda (Jesse) DelGrosso, Ogdensburg, NJ; 12 great-grandchildren: Zachary, Jacob, Lyla, Seth, Andrew, and Brooklyn Jeffreys, Emmett and Owen Lopez, Raelyn and Jenson Carter, and Stella and Miley DelGrosso; 2 stepdaughters, Sandra Humphries Raedel and Marsha (Bill) Fiesler; and 5 step-granddaughters. She is also survived by one brother, Roger Cales of Jackson, OH; and a very large number of nieces and nephews.
The family will welcome guests from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio, with Pastor Adam Allen officiating a service beginning at 12:00 pm. Genetta will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
