Obituary

George Beshire, 92, of Chippewa Lake, Ohio, died Monday, February 17, 2025, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease.Born on November 5,1932 to Abraham and Ethel Beshire on Vine Street, Medina, Ohio. George had wonderful memories and stories of growing up in small town Medina.  As a young teen, George served as shoeshine boy at Shorty Gooden's barber shop (now Hershey's). Later, George was a bicycle deliverer for Lubin's fruit market on the Medina Square. George was a proud Medina Bee, Class of 1952. He had many happy memories of playing football for Medina and was a halfback on the 1950 Medina Southwestern Conference Championship team. George served in the United States Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954, and the Army Reserves until October 1960. He was a proud veteran and shared many stories of his service with his children and grandchildren.George stayed active in youth sports throughout his lifetime and will be remembered for his role as coach, booster, and superfan in organized sports and on the sandlot. Children in the neighborhood, and in the community, knew they could count on him to shepherd a game.  A 39-year employee of Ford Motor Company, George worked at the Walton Hills Stamping Plant where he was a quality control inspector. He was a model of hard work, believed in the union of workers and a commitment to the company.

Above all, George had a love of family. He married Betty Jo Antal of Chippewa Lake on April 12, 1957. They were each other's everything for 68 years. Betty and children, Diana K. (Steve) Markley and George J. (Bambi) Beshire will continue to cherish his love and memories of him. His grandchildren, Cody and Ava Beshire, Ashley (TJ) Warholic and Jordan Markley were his pride and joy. His great grandchildren, Sophia and Avery George Beshire, and Aspen and Oaklynn Markley were a source of pride and wonder. George was preceded in death by his beloved sisters and brothers, William, Marie, Colletta, Carmelita and James. George has dear nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, neighbors, classmates, and caregivers that meant so much to him and made his life rich and happy.

Funeral arrangements will be cared for by Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, Ohio.  Family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Private family interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina, Ohio.
