Hornung
February 23, 1940 – January 27, 2025
George Hornung, 84, of Brunswick, passed away January 27, 2025. He was born in Lacarak, Yugoslavia on February 23, 1940, to the late Jakob and Magdalena (nee Miller) Hornung.
George was a beloved founding member of the Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center. He loved making music playing his accordion, performing many years with his band "The Hornung Trio." George lived a good life, always surrounded by his family and friends. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.
George is survived by his loving children, Conrad Hornung and Monica Bildstein; Opa to grandchildren, Alexandra, Tatiana, Patrik, Kelli (Brian), Katie, Kristi, Brian, James (Brianna), Maggie, and Benjamin; Uropa to great-grandchildren, Lilli, Willo, Barrett, Luna, and Sora; his sister-in-law, Marie Hornung; nephews, Erik and Mark (Hannah) Hornung and their children; and many extended family and friends. Along with his parents, George is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Hilde and his brother Stefan Hornung.
Private services will be held for family and close friends from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Road in Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Donauschwaben German-American Cultural Center, 7370 Columbia Rd., Olmsted Falls, OH 44138.
