Gunther J.
Durr
November 14, 1929 – December 25, 2025
Gunther J. Durr, age 96, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025.
Born on November 14, 1929, in Eltmann, Germany, Gunther was the beloved son of Adolf and Margaret (Weiss) Durr. In 1956, he immigrated to the United States, a decision he often said was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Gunther was a skilled tool and die maker, trained in Germany and proud to continue his lifelong career in the United States. After retiring early, he fully embraced life traveling with friends and family. He also passionately followed soccer, while savoring his favorite cigars.
Above all else, Gunther was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hilda, and his parents. He is survived by his cherished children, Karen (Rich) Profancik and Fred (Terri) Durr; and his adored grandchildren, Michael Durr, and Alex and Garret Profancik.
Gunther found his greatest joy in time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Known for his kindness, warmth, and ever-present smile, he lived by a simple and welcoming philosophy—his favorite saying always reminding those around him that "the door's always open."
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Cleveland Clinic, P.O. Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193.
May he now rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Hilda, and may his memory forever be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
