Helmut Hempel, age 96, of Cleveland, Ohio passed away on September 8, 2018.  He was born on July 13, 1922 in Germany to Max and Martha (nee Fischer) Hempel.

He immigrated to America in 1959 with his wife and 3 daughters for the adventure and start of a new life. He represents the true American Dream with hard work and love of family. Helmut retired after 50 plus years as the owner of Helmut Hempel Organ Pipe Company. His pipes are still being heard in organs around the world. The love of music was reflected with his being a self taught mandolin, banjo and harmonica player. He loved the great outdoors and was an avid skier and enjoyed camping with his family. Spending time with family was the most important part of his life.

Helmut is survived by his loving daughters Ingrid (James) Shandersky of Harrisburg, PA, Brigitte (Lawrence) Gibel of Hinckley, Ohio, Karin (Wolfgang) Hein of Strongsville, Ohio, Christine (Jeffery) Buckley of Amherst, Ohio and grandchildren; Christopher (Ingrid), Renee (Phillip), Karoline (Christopher), Keith (Jennifer), Alison (Charles), Erich, Kristie (Travis), Rachel (Richard), Jennifer and Emily as well as 17 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife Margarete (nee Rebohl) Hempel of 64 years and two sisters. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, Ohio 44212.  Funeral service will follow at noon.  Burial will follow at Hope Memorial Gardens, Hinckley, Ohio.  Online condolences may be left at www.waitefuneralhome.com .
