Herbert Campfield

Herbert Eric Campfield, 77, of Winter Haven, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 4th, 2026 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

Born on August 17th, 1949, in Medina, Ohio, to Arthur and Arlene Campfield, Herbie, as he was known to his friends grew up with a love for sports. He graduated from Strongsville High School and went on to work as a telephone lineman and provisioning engineer for 40 years at Ohio Bell, Mountain Bell, and AT&T.

Outside of his work, Herbie was known for his passion for watching his children participate in sports and his loyalty to the Cleveland Browns. During his retirement years he served as a volunteer at the Lake Wales Care Center in Florida alongside his lifelong best friend, John Berry. Herbie never turned down an opportunity to spark up a conversation with a stranger.

He is survived by his three children, Charles Campfield, Michelle Welch, and Chad Campfield and his two grandchildren Erin Welch and Ryan Huff. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and parents.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:30 at Waite Funeral Home, located at 765 N. Court Street, Medina, OH 44256. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
