Ilene Hopps, age 90, of Medina, Ohio, passed away October 17, 2025. She was born in Ruby, Michigan on April 13, 1935, to loving parents Joseph and Jennie Morgan. Her grandparent's farm was central to her childhood. Following graduation from Yale High School, Ilene married Sidney Hopps and they moved to Ann Arbor, MI where Sidney studied law and Ilene worked in the admissions office. The couple moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where Sidney began his career in law and Ilene dedicated herself to raising their three daughters. She volunteered at Bay Presbyterian Church and The League of Women Voters and took yoga and painting classes. In 1976 the family moved to Valley City where Ilene thoroughly enjoyed country living again. Ilene loved animals and gardening! She earned her real estate license and began selling homes. After Sidney passed away in 1995, Ilene became active with Circle of Friends bereavement group. The group supported her through her grief, and she continued to participate providing comfort to others experiencing loss. In 2008, Ilene was blessed to meet Lloyd Egbert and in 2010 they joined their lives in a commitment ceremony. The couple enjoyed travel, family and building a home and life together.

Ilene is survived by her partner Lloyd Egbert and her children, Paulette Maldonado (Richard), Tracy Hopps (Jeff), and Erin Staub (John); her grandchildren, Morgan (Hollie), Andrea (Travis), Nathaniel (Ashley), Kristen (Greg), Sophie (Nick) and Georgia; her great-grandchildren, Penelope, Everett, Sidney, Colten, Amelia, Kodiak, Charleigh, Elliott and Caliber.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 12-1 pm at the Waite Funeral Home: 765 N. Court Street, Medina, OH  44256, with a Celebration of Ilene's Life at 1 pm.
