March 23, 1943 – July 14, 2025
James Michael MacLellan, age 82 of Medina, Ohio, peacefully passed away Monday, July 14, 2025. He was born on March 23, 1943, to Hugh Edmund and Gertrude Isabelle (nee Brown) MacLellan in Cleveland, Ohio. Jim proudly served his country as a Corporal in the US Marine Corp. He was a mechanic and flew in the Marine One for President John F. Kennedy and was present when the assassination occurred. After leaving the military, his first job was as an Ohio State Patrolman. He then went into the Insurance industry and worked for Cincinnati Insurance, retiring as an Adjuster. He was a soccer coach for twelve years for Brunswick High School and an avid golfer. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's sporting events and recently spending time with his great grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Left to celebrate Jim's life is his beloved wife, Kathryn; his loving children, Shaun (Pam), Jim (Carrie), and Shelly (Gary) Gray; his adorable grandchildren, Courtney MacLellan (Jaques Kaune), Justin (Caitlin) MacLellan, Tyler (Hannah) MacLellan, Cameron (Angelina Wright), Kendall MacLellan, Evan Gray, Kyle Gray (Andrea Yeagle), and Emma Gray (Brian Klesch); his beautiful great granddaughters, Oaklee, Reece, Olivia; his siblings, David (JoAnn) MacLellan, Thomas (Rita) MacLellan, and Jayne MacLellan; and many extended family and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Karen Hanson, and brother-in-law, Russell Hanson.
Family will welcome friends from 5pm to 8pm on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Road in Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, July 22nd at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road in Brunswick with interment to follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville at 12:45pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Jim's honor to Southwest Hospice, 18659 Drake Road, Strongsville, OH 44136.
